How To Install Stant Tethered Fuel Cap

Geez, I'm not gonna run outside and look but I just replaced my cap with a new OEM. As I remember, at the end of the tether you have a little plastic loop. If you look at the metal door flap which opens to access the gas filler pipe, near the top you should see a little metal protuberance or hook. The loop on your tether should fit snugly over this hook and you'll be good to go!

Gene, you're talking about where the tether attaches to the cap itself? My tether broke recently so I replaced it with an OEM cap that had the tether attached. I guess your question still is if the tether can attach to your aftermarket cap?

On FCP's website, they show the tether going "around" the gas cap - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...eoIRoC2onw_wcB

Thanks for the help guys and sorry for the delayed response. I had to leave town for a day getting supplies for work in my van.

No actually, when I realized my cap was an aftermarket, I went with the Volvo cap with the tether already attached. But thanks for the link. My next FPC order will definitely include a spare!

    I appreciate the help.

I'm happy to say that thanks to you guys the problem is solved. The hook definitely was still there, I just didn't see it. My only real excuse is that the car had been parked tightly under some young-ish pine trees on my driveway and it's kind of dark in that little corner of the world. If I had thought to use a flashlight or wear my glasses I might have seen it.

We had most of a week of snowy weather, so I just left it parked in a safe place where no big branches couldn't fall on it. Paranoid right? No not really - it already happened once this December. Fortunately I have comp on my insurance so the repairs were covered.
